The Good & the Bad - what did you like best? What least?
This is not a language teaching camp. There was little to no teaching of German language at all. Students spent more time learning to line dance than learning German grammar. Teachers played board games like "Aggravation" as an excuse for language learning, which would have been acceptable if the games had been geared toward language learning. My daughter even was VERY disappointed as she really wanted to learn actual grammar, spelling, reading and writing German. There were no materials the students could use for learning, no worksheets, no books, no guidance. Then at the end there was a "test" which my daughter did very poorly on which is no wonder because she wasn't taught anything the whole time. Excursions were predominantly to shopping malls rather than to interesting sites for German culture.
The best part for my daughter was the social aspect. Meeting other kids who are learning German
Your recommendations for other students
Don't attend this camp if you are expecting to actually receive language instruction.
Do attend this camp if you are looking to visit shopping malls every day for a week or more. Parents: it's an ok place to send your kids off for the summer.
